We all know and love him as the “gangster lover of bourgeois prostitute Catherine Deneuve in Belle de jour” (Wikipedia). Super amazed to find this Pierre Clémenti film “Scusi, facciamo l’amore?” 1968. And here… he’s the hooker! So so good. Also charmingly awkward. The first screenshot is when he is getting words of wisdom from the older gigolo, sort of like the godfather gigolo. Everything about this film is PERFECT, and music by Ennio Morricone too.

What I’m really curious about is… So that is a mirror, a curved wall and ceiling mirror? And it has a control panel along the bottom??? And… WHAT DOES IT DO?!?!?! And what is along the edge? Like gilt and textured faux leopard print. Like? Like? What? And what is that globular silver thing on the left, on the bedside table or whatever that would be called? There is a lot of goodness here.

Engineers at Harvard University have figured out a way to make microscopic sculptures of roses, tulips and violets, each smaller than a strand of hair.

To get a sense of just how small these flower sculptures are, grab a penny and flip it on its back. Right in the middle of the Lincoln Memorial, you’ll see a faint impression of Abraham Lincoln. These roses would make a perfect corsage for the president’s jacket lapel.

Growing the gardens is similar to making crystals with a Magic Rockkit.

The flowers sprout up spontaneously when a glass plate is dipped into a beaker filled with silicon and minerals (specifically, barium chloride). Then Wim Noorduin at Harvard coaxes the salts to spiral and swirl into smooth, curvaceous shapes, like vases, leaves and petals.

There aren’t a lot of hippie houses and no hippies left in what was a hippie neighbourhood, though David Suzuki is around here somewhere, and William Gibson. He’s a hippie right? But these insanely perfect roses are in front of a favourite hippie house of mine. It’s an apartment actually, painted a weird pale turquoise and with an even weirder scalloped pink trim. And there’s always free stuff in front of it, like books and weird stuff.
